Antidepressents and weight loss
Granted the weight was slowing piling on over the few years from college til now because I would binge and now I am pretty sure it was to fill that void that now the medication is now able to do. You may have an ulcer or acid indigestion. I eat soup during the day, as well as lunch. I noticed rapid weight gain with all of them. Another thing is if you are feeling hungry, it may be your bodies way of telling you that you are missing something in your diet. If you have ever tried taking any of the commonly found weight loss supplements on the market, these also include levels of stimulants in them. Try taking a Tagamet or similar acid reducer (Tums does not reduce acid, only neutralizes). After finishing a meal I would be even more hungry. I have had the same problem and im female - ive been to pshyc doctors about it. It is strange im not sure if you have that feeling - but Im hungry all the time. However, you must take it at the same time every day to avoid things like nausea or irritability. So far after 3 doses, I feel a little nervous, loss for words a lot, spacey, little bit of dry mouth, somewhat of a loss of appetite. This stimulation (in both psychopharmaceuticals and OTC weight loss supplements) can also cause jitteriness, shaking, rapid heart rate, and irritability (especially after discontinuing the medication). My dr first started me on the 150 mg Bupropion (generic wellbutrin) sr and it worked for about 6 months. I wake up starving in the morning and eat 4-6 bowls of cereal or porridge. This is true with every medication of this type. It is great for weight loss, increased energy, depression symptoms, improved mood, etc. In the evening I start supper about 7:00 and eat continually until bedtime at 9:30 or 10:00. I am pretty sure that it started back in middle school with family issues and continuously got worse and spiked in college and when I moved out of the state with my fiance. For the past four months I have had constant recurring hunger pangs. I hope you read this and if you do write back and let me know what state your in. I was going to say you have a pork tapeworm before I even read haw much pork you eat. I finally broke down and went to the doctor about a year ago for depression. I would wake up in the middle of the night starving and have to eat so I could sleep. If you have the beginnings of an ulcer, that can cause nausea and could also cause stomach pains which, in some instances, are similar to hunger pangs. It has helped me to know that I am not the only one going through this and looking for the same results. Stupid me I thought I was doing better so I stopped cold turkey for about 3 weeks and noticed that I was slipping back down that slippery slope. It is a great medication, just give it time to work. If you are not drinking enough water that can cause stomach pains. Avoid coffee, tea, and other foods with a lot of acid. It is hard to believe but those are the symptoms. BTW- I am taking it to help cope with anxiety. Things like soda, coffee, tea, chocolate all contain caffeine which can cause dehydration. Similar weight loss effects are reported with ADHD medications such as Ritilin and Adderall, which are also stimulants. I tried about 3 different medications, Fluoxetine, Citilopram, and one other one but was only on each of them for the max of 2 months. I should know, I went through the same exact symptoms that you have. Wellbutrin causes weight loss because the drug works as a stimulant as opposed to a depressant. If you consume large quantites of these beverages I would consider cutting them out of your diet. Hunger was my main thyroid symptom with weight loss.
